Fresh Bagels

These fresh bagels are perfect right out of the oven with cream cheese and smoked salmon or eggs and cheese, or even plain with butter! I hope you like it! You can add bagels seasoning like  I did or keep it plain and simple. It is great both ways. You can also add cheese. Or cinnamon and raisins! Anything at all! This is so much better than store bought! You can use active dry yeast if you want. Happy cooking! Enjoy!

1 1/3 cup water

1 tablespoon yeast Instant

1 and 1/2 tablespoons sugar

3 and half cups flour

1 and 1/2 teaspoons salt

Mix the water, yeast and sugar and let stand for 2 minutes. If you are using active dry yeast than let sit for 10 minutes. Add the flour and salt and mix until it forms a dough ball. Cover dough in an oiled bowl with olive oil and let rise for an hour. Punch it down and cut into 8 pieces. Roll into a ball and make sure none of it will be able to unfold while boiling. Punch a hole and roll it with two fingers until you have an inch hole. Let rest for 10 minutes.

While they are resting, boil water in a cast iron skillet, fill it about 2/3 with water. Boil bagels one minute per side and then place them on a baking tray, do two rounds of this with 4 bagels boiling at a time. When they are all on the baking tray, you can now add the toppings you want, or keep it plain. Bake at 425 degrees for 20 minutes. Enjoy!
