This is my go-to pasta meal! With just a few ingredients, you can turn it into a wonderful cheesy pasta. I have a video of how to make the pasta sauce above! When taking meat out of it’s casing, use a sharp knife to open it up and place the meat directly into the pan. I used tomato sauce that already has herbs in it, but I added more as shown in the video, because they are so good! Whole wheat pasta is great with this, and it makes it much healthier. I actually usually use whole wheat penne, but today I didn’t. Make sure to cook the meat until it is brown! The most important thing I can tell you about this meal is to not under cook your meat! This can also easily be vegetarian if you use fake meat or use no meat, but that is completely not the point of this, the meat is the heart of this meal! Anyway, happy cooking! Hope you enjoy!
1 pound mushrooms sliced
1 32 oz jar tomato sauce
1 pound ground sausage
1 tablespoon Italian herbs
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 pound penne pasta
1 pound mozzarella cheese
To a large saucepan, add the olive oil, while that is heating up cut the mushrooms. Cut the sausage out of its casing and place it in the hot pan, as shown in the video, use a wooden spoon to chop it up, into small bite sized pieces. Cook until all sides are browned. While they are getting browned, boil some water for the pasta. Add the mushrooms and sauté them together for 3-4 minutes. Add the tomato sauce and stir together. Keep on medium heat so that it is bubbling, this makes sure that the meat is getting cooked. Poor the pasta into the boiling water and cook for 10 minutes while the sauce is simmering.
Drain the pasta. Poor the pasta back into its pot, add the sauce and stir until combined. Poor into a greased 9-13 inch baking pan and spread evenly. Evenly spread the mozzarella cheese and put it in the oven at 350 for 15-18 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the top is oily. Enjoy!
